About the artist: Born in Algiers originating from a family of Alsatian musicians, Georges Schmitt, a multi-talented artist is described by his peers as "a travelling acrobat of genius who cannot be categorized in the world of entertainment." Like an authentic craftsman he manufactures his panpipes in a traditional way, tuning them with bee-wax. But he can also modernize his instrument by replacing the wax with a patented system of valve adjustment. Thanks to his simple but revolutionary process, Georges Schmitt became the first inventor of tunable panpipes, which enabled him to extend his repertoire to classical and sacred music. He is also a wonderful imitator of bird singing. This talent comes form his liking for ornithology dating back to his infancy. Similarly he can imitate the sound of the panpipes with his hands, which never fails to surprise the audience during a concert. 14 Tracks of Easy Listening Panflutewith percussions by Jean Luc Ceddaha. |
